CREATING A ROLE

For those who are incapable of belief, there are rituals; for those who are incapable of personality, there is etiquette; for those who do not know how to dress, there is fashion;  for those who do not know how to create, there are conventions and clichés. That is why: bureaucrats love ceremonial; priests love rituals; petty-bourgeoisie love social conveniences; dandys love fashion; and actors the theatrical conventions, stereotypes and the/a whole ritual of stage actions.
