Ebbene, oggi Cultura in Atto spegne la sua sesta candelina.
E pensare che sembra passata un’eternità dalla sua fondazione.
Forse perché questi sei anni sono stati molto intensi e ricchi di attività, che hanno sempre mirato a far emergere le più disparate sfumature della Cultura: tra letteratura, filosofia, musica, poesia, arte e scienza. Proprio come farebbe un bambino curioso di esplorare il mondo in tutte le sue sfaccettature, con le sincere intenzioni del piacere della ricerca e della volontà di conoscere, ancor privi di costruzioni mentali dogmatiche, di consensi passivi a pensieri superficiali e dispotici, di nichilismi paralizzanti…
O forse perché lo Spirito di Cultura in Atto è antico quanto le Radici dell’Umanità, perché non dimentica mai le origini del nostro Pensiero, a partire da come esso si è sviluppato ed evoluto nel corso del tempo, facendo di conseguenza propria la storia che lo caratterizza: tutti elementi che portano ad una più meditata comprensione della realtà che ci circonda.
L’impatto che può avere il contatto con un tipo di Movimento come questo, disinteressato ma allo stesso tempo critico nei confronti di tutto quello che passa attraverso il vaglio del nostro giudizio, grazie all'uso attivo del Dubbio, capite bene che può essere piuttosto disarmante: ogni certezza potrebbe venir subito demolita, è come arrampicarsi su una parete molto alta e ripida, in cui ogni possibile appiglio potrebbe sgretolarsi sotto la propria mano in ogni momento, facendoti cadere di nuovo rovinosamente giù. Ovviamente, più impari a scegliere gli appigli, a valutarne meglio la forma adatta a sorreggere il tuo peso, la consistenza giusta per non scivolare, più si riesce a salire. E chi sale potrà guardare il mondo sottostante da una posizione sopraelevata, e quindi più chiara; potrà accorgersi che le montagne che da giù sembravano così alte in realtà non erano altro che delle imponenti colline. Che il fiume cristallino che si pensava bagnasse solo il proprio territorio in realtà ne bagna tanti altri, portandosi dietro gli scarti del paese subito prima…
Insomma, si inizia a vivere con una consapevolezza della realtà che ci circonda differente da chiunque, anche da coloro che si proclamano ogni volta l’alternativa superiore al mediocre mainstream, non accorgendosi di essere solamente l’altra faccia della stessa medaglia. Non voglio certo insinuare che così si diventi “migliori” di nessuno: si rischia infatti di imbattersi in quella famigerata damigella chiamata Vanità, che va spesso a braccetto con molti, moltissimi individui. Come dice la parola stessa, ciò che è vuoto e futile è prerogativa di chi vive in modo superficiale, non accorgendosi di agire per una semplice brama personale che non porta a nessun beneficio tangibile…Per questo si cerca di starne lontani e capire le vere motivazioni di ogni nostra azione.
Chiaramente tutto ciò che proponiamo non è di facile compimento. C’è chi si chiede “ma perché io non posso starmene ai piedi della parete, nel mio paesino? Perché dovrei fare tanta fatica se le cose mi vanno bene così come sono, magari perché sono padrone di quel pezzo di terra e non mi manca nulla? Cosa mi importa di sapere cosa c’è prima o dopo, sopra o sotto l’aria che respiro?” ... Dopotutto come dar torto a questa voce, vivere è così facile, basta avere un lavoro stabile, potersi nutrire e vestire dignitosamente, avere i propri affetti... Chi siamo noi per impedire tutto questo? Nessuno può essere costretto a seguire un movimento, che sia culturale o meno, altrimenti si cadrebbe nella mera dittatura. Ma soprattutto, che cosa offriamo di concreto? Nulla, nulla che possa magari appagare la sete di chi agisce solo in nome dei dogmi dettati dal Potere di turno e del guadagno materiale immediato.
Per questo Cultura in Atto, tutto sommato, rimane per pochi. O almeno, un gruppo di pochi che vogliono veramente vivere una vita che è altro rispetto a qualsiasi cosa ci venga proposta. Che non vogliono bollare e pregiudicare nulla e nessuno basandosi solo sulla moda del momento, senza aver cercato prima l’analisi e la comprensione. Che non vogliono far sfoggio delle proprie capacità conoscitive solo per mettersi in mostra come animali da fiera. Che sanno quando farsi da parte per lasciar parlare anche gli altri, perché è importante potersi confrontare e crescere, non sopraffare.
Ed è per questo che ci si bacchetta a vicenda, si dicono in faccia cose che possono fare molto male ad ascoltarle, che ti fanno realizzare la durezza di un mondo senza filtri, facendoti emergere da quella confortevole e buia tana in cui di solito si preferisce rifugiarsi. Ma è l’unico modo per potersi costruire una Volontà sempre più solida, è un continuo cadere per rialzarsi sempre più forti. E in un certo senso, per poter sopravvivere a questa realtà senza farsi veramente soggiogare dalla stessa.
Tutto quello che ho descritto finora potrebbe sicuramente sembrare un mio entusiastico tentativo di esaltazione. Non nego che non sia anche questo, anzi. Sento di essere stata molto fortunata ad aver avuto l’opportunità di venire in contatto con l’ambiente di Cultura in Atto. Grazie ad esso è cambiato profondamente il mio senso di giudizio e visione dei fatti, sento di operare scelte con una consapevolezza e sensibilità differente, mentre prima, quando ormai adulta sono uscita dal percorso scolastico d’obbligo, mi sentivo piuttosto persa, in balia di sfide quotidiane su tutti i fronti, a cui nessuno ti prepara seriamente.
Credo che anche moltissimi altri giovani abbiano questa stessa difficoltà. Essendo le prime vittime dell’ignoranza e superficialità sociale, senza alcuna guida che li porti ad usare l’apparato cerebrale in modo adeguato (o usarlo in generale), finiscono per diventare dei semplici automi consumatori, che meno pensano, meglio si possono controllare. Sarebbe fondamentale promuovere un uso attivo della Cultura, come per esempio cerchiamo di fare noi nel nostro piccolo, ma ormai anche essa è stata trasformata in una delle numerose attività di intrattenimento per le masse: non si riesce a proporre nulla di veramente serio agli enti che la dovrebbero salvaguardare, perché viene data la priorità ad eventi a cui possano partecipare cani e porci e in cui qualcuno da dietro le quinte possa felicemente lucrare.
Con molta amarezza ho notato, nella mia esperienza di studente, come questo aspetto venga alimentato per esempio anche da coloro che dovrebbero in primis avere la giusta maturità ed energia per far fiorire la vena culturale della società, ovvero gli universitari. Spesso preferiscono andarsene in discoteca, feste o a qualche evento musicale che accompagni le bevute e lo sballo a fine studio, piuttosto che spendersi per ascoltare qualcosa che li faccia ragionare in modo critico al di fuori del percorso didattico…
Detto questo, si spera comunque sempre di trovare simili di ogni età con cui realizzare gli obbiettivi che ci proponiamo, cercando di non demoralizzarci e perseverare anche quando tutto sembra ormai perduto.
Sento di aver parlato con la massima sincerità, quella di chi ha fatto proprio un certo pensiero, che sfocia poi in un modo d’essere quotidiano. Spero che, leggendo questa mia semplice testimonianza, riusciate a cogliere meglio che cos'è Cultura in Atto e a togliervi eventuali dubbi e pregiudizi.

A WISH/TESTIMONY FOR SIX YEARS
OF CULTURA IN ATTO

Today Cultura in Atto blows out six candles.
And to think that it feels like an eternity since its foundation.
Perhaps because these six years have been very intense and full of activities, all aimed at bringing to light the different shades of Culture: literature, philosophy, music, poetry, art and science.
Just like a child would do, who is eager to explore the world in its every aspect, with the sincere intention of the pleasure of exploring and thirst for knowledge, still free from dogmatic mental constructs, from passive consents to superficial, despotic thoughts, from paralyzing nihilism…
Or maybe because the Spirit of Cultura in Atto is as ancient as Humanity’s Roots, because it never forgets the source of our Thought, starting from how it developed and evolved across time, consequently embracing its history: all elements that bring to a more pondered understanding of the reality surrounding us.
The impact of coming into contact with a movement like this, that is uninterested but critical at the same time of everything going under the scrutiny of our judgement, thanks to the active use of Doubt, might be disarming, as you can guess: every certainty could be immediately demolished, it is like climbing a high steep wall whose every possible foothold could crumble under your hand at any moment, making you fall disastrously back down. Naturally, the more you learn to choose your foothold, to consider the shape that better sustains your weight, and the right consistency to avoid slipping, the more you are able to climb. And those who climb will be able to look down at the world from an elevated, and therefore clearer, position; they will be able to notice that the mountains which seemed so high when seen from the ground were actually just massive hills. That the crystal-clear river which they thought only passed through their town actually passes through many others, carrying the waste from the last one…
In short, you start living with an awareness of reality that is different from everyone else’s, even from the self-proclaimed better alternatives to the mediocre mainstream, who do not realise that they are only the other face of the same coin. I am not implying that you become “better” than anyone: in fact, you risk stumbling upon the infamous damsel called Vanity, often going hand in hand with many, many men. As the word itself says, the empty and useless is a prerogative of those who live lightly, not realising that their actions are motivated by a personal desire that does not lead to any concrete benefit…Because of this, we try to distance ourselves from it and understand the real motivations behind our every action.
Clearly everything we offer is not easily accomplished. Some ask themselves “why can’t I stay at the foot of the wall, in my little town? Why should I put in so much effort if things are fine the way they are, maybe because I own that piece of land and I have everything? Why should I care what comes before or after, upon or under the air that I breathe?” … After all, how can we blame this voice, living is easy, it just takes a permanent job, being able to feed and dress ourselves decently, being with our loved ones… Who are we to prevent all of this? No one can be forced to follow a movement, be it cultural or not, otherwise we would fall into a mere dictatorship. Most importantly, what real things do we offer? Nothing, nothing that can satisfy the thirst of those who only act in the name of dogmas set by the Authority of the moment and of immediate material gain.
This is why Cultura in Atto, all things considered, is still not for everyone. At least, it is for the few who really want to lead a life that is different from anything else we may be offered. The few who do not want to label and prejudge anything or anyone basing only on current trends, without first seeking analysis and understanding. The few who do not want to flaunt their cognitive abilities just to show off like some fairground animal. Who know when to step aside to let the others speak, because it is important to confront others and grow, not to overtake.
This is why we whack each other, we say things to each other’s face which can be painful to hear and which make us realise the harshness of a world without any filters, drawing us out of the comfortable, dark den where we usually like to take refuge. It is the only way we can build ourselves a Willpower that gets steadier and steadier, it is falling again and again and getting back up stronger every time. And in a sense, it is the only way of surviving this reality without being completely subdued by it.
Everything I have described until now could very well seem like my enthusiastic attempt at glorification. I am not denying it, at all. I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity of coming into contact with Cultura in Atto. Thanks to its environment, my sense of judgement and perspective have deeply changed, I feel like I make decisions with a different consciousness and sensibility, while after I finished my compulsory education I felt lost, at the mercy of daily challenges on all sides, that no one is preparing you to face.
I believe many other young people feel this same difficulty. Since they are the first victims of ignorance and social superficiality, without a mentor teaching them to use their brain properly (or use it at all), they end up simple robot consumers, who are better controlled the less they think. It would be essential to encourage an active use of Culture, as we try to do in our small way, but nowadays even Culture has been turned into one of the many entertainment activities for the masses: we cannot suggest anything really serious to the institutions that should preserve it, because they prioritise events to which anyone and their mother can take part and from which someone behind the scenes can happily turn some profit.
In my experience as a student, I witnessed with a lot of bitterness how this aspect is fueled, for example, even by those who in the first place should have the right maturity and energy to allow society’s cultural vein to flourish: university students. They often prefer going to a club, party or some musical event to complement drinks and fun after studying, instead of spending themselves for listening to something that gets them to think critically outside of their educational path…
That being said, we are always hoping to find likeminded people of every age with whom to realise the goals we have in mind, trying not to beat ourselves up and carry on even when everything seems lost.
I feel that I have spoken with the outmost sincerity of someone who embraced as their own an idea, which then resulted in a day-to-day way of being. I hope that by reading my simple testimony you can better understand what Cultura in Atto is and clear possible doubts or prejudices.
